About Our Eye Health Examinations

The eyes are a vital part of the body. They regulate our sense of sight, making them an important aspect of our health. It’s crucial to continuously monitor changes in the eyes to preserve vision. The highly skilled team at Savedoff, Ciccone & Davis, Doctors of Optometry, P.C., provides patients with in-depth vision and eye health examinations. How Often Should You Have Your Eyes Examined?

Patients of all ages should have their eyes evaluated routinely by a qualified eye doctor. The American Optometric Association (AOA) recommends that babies have their first comprehensive eye exam between six and 12 months. Savedoff, Ciccone & Davis, Doctors of Optometry, P.C., offers our youngest patients free vision and eye health examinations through to their first birthday.

The recommended frequency of eye health examinations later in life depends on age, vision health, and other risk factors. The American Optometric Association (AOA) recommends the following eye exam schedule for other age groups:

  • Birth to 2 years: At least one eye exam between the ages of 6 and 12 months
  • 3 to 5 years: At least one eye exam between these ages
  • 6 to 17 years: Before first grade and annually thereafter
  • 65 years and older: Annually

Patients with the following risk factors should receive an eye health evaluation annually:

  • Diabetes
  • High blood pressure
  • Family history of eye disease
  • Previous eye injury or ocular surgery
  • Prescribed medications with vision-related side effects

About Our Eye Surgery Co-Management Services

The correct course of action for treating vision disorders depends on the severity of the condition and its symptoms. In some cases, surgery is the only option. Although the doctors at Savedoff, Ciccone & Davis, Doctors of Optometry, P.C., do not perform surgeries, they work with ophthalmologists to closely monitor patients post-operation. We see patients who’ve recently undergone cataract surgery, laser/LASIK surgery, and several other eye-related surgical procedures.

Our highly skilled team uses eye health examinations to observe patients’ vision systems after their operations. This helps to ensure the surgical area heals properly and may reduce the risk of complications.
